Achieving my Writing Goal
Jeremiah has been working really hard on his writing goal. He can now accurately identify the first sounds in the words that he writes.
Jeremiah can now work on his new writing goal of now trying to write all the sounds in a word.
You are a great author, Jeremiah.

Pizza Sharing
In Maths, we have been learning what the word 'equal' means and how to share equally. Our teacher gave us a pizza that had been cut into halves or quarters. We had to pretend to be a pizza chef and make pizza toppings with play dough. We then had to share the toppings equally on to each piece of the pizza.

Our Car Ramp
Today we were making a car ramp outside. We learned lots about our play. We used puddles to clean our cars to reuse on the ramp. We had a problem where the cars were flying out the end of the ramp. We decided to use sand to stop the cars. Then we had another problem because the sand at the end created a type of sand ramp and the cars started flying over the ramp. We solved the problem by making the sand into a wall to stop the cars.
We had another idea to create a high ramp at the beginning of the track so we didn't have to push the cars so hard. We used blocks of wood to make one end of the ramp higher.

For Friday Surprise Day we continued our exploration into patterns. Today we used music to create a pattern. Can your child explain their pattern? Can you make a new pattern together?

My Puppet
Here is a picture of Jeremiah and his puppet. Te Kakano made puppets for Friday Surprise Day and our Whakangahau. We had to think about all the parts our puppets would need. We also had to show persistence to make sure the parts stayed on and looked how we planned it.
"My puppet has hair on top of the eyes. The hair snakes next to the eyes? It looks like a rainbow because they go around the eyes."
I Am An Author
I am an author. I have been writing words from my word card carefully into my write to self book. I am sharing my writing with the class. |
Comparing Houses
On our Friday Surprise Day we have been looking at a variety of houses and what makes them similiar and what makes them different. Our buddy and I made a house out of playdough. We didn't peek at our buddies house while we created them but when we finished we compared our houses.
"Our houses are the same because they both have a swimming pool but Jared's pool is bigger. The houses both have chimneys. Jared's house has poles on the roof to support the house. Jeremiah's roof is flat and Jared's roof is round. That is different.

Book Club
Each Friday, we get together for Book Club. We share the books that we have read during the week with our Book Club partner. We can read the whole book or choose our favourite parts of the book. Our partner listens and might ask some questions. We also like to share connections we make together.
Here Jeremiah is reading a book called ' Car Shopping'. This was a book we read during shared reading time. Jeremiah chose to read it to his partner. He used the storyline he had heard and the pictures to help him.
Wow Jeremiah - great pointing to the words!
